Hello Spring, Hello new fresh Produce!

With the changing of the seasons comes a more welcoming scene in the produce aisle. While we are still in the beginning of our vegetable and fruit goldmine, we still have plenty to choose from this month:

spring

  • Asparagus
  • Broccoli
  • Cabbage
  • Parsnips (looks like fat white carrots)
  • Rhubarb
  • Sorrel (like a lemony spinach)
  • Cherries
  • Strawberries
  • Peas

In both Spring and Fall there are two different plant categories: Hardy and Semi-Hardy. Hardy Plants can be planted in advance and tolerate frosts down to 25 degrees, whereas Semi-Hardy can only tolerate frosts down to 30 degrees. They are planted at different times throughout the season to ensure the seedlings survive to matured plants through the weather.
